OBITUARY.
mrs j. McDowell,
The death occurred this morning, at 25 Upper Watt Street, Wellington, of a former resident of Palmerston North, in the person of Mrs J. McDowell. BoTn in Foxton, G-l years ago, tho deceased lady came to Palmerston North on her marriage with Mr McDowell, who became a well-known business man in this town, occupying tho premises known as victoria House. Later, Mr McDowell removed to Dannevirke where ho entered into partnership with Mr Power. On the doath of her husband iome years ago, McDowell went to Wellington to reside. She was a keen croquet enthusiast and had held the title of North Island champion. She was a vice-president of tile Wellington Croquet Vssociation and also supported the game in Dannevirke. There are left to mourn their lose a daughter—Mrs Frank Tait of Wellington—and two sons — Messrs J. H. McDowell, secretary of Messrs Collinson and Cunningliame, Ltd., Palmerston North, and Mr Hoyden McDowell, of Dannevirke. Mrs A. G. .Roe, of Palmerston North, is a sister of the late Mrs McDowelL. Another sister is Mrs H. Couch, of Sydney who just recently returned to the New South Wales capital after a visit to her relatives in the Dominion.
