COMMENT ON AUSTRALIAN HANDICAPS.

Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Aug. 14. Miss Muriel Payton and Miss Snodgrass returned to Auckland from Sydney this morning after having taken part in the Australian ladies’ _ golf championships. Both are convinced that the New Zealand handicaps are at least two or three strokes too low compared with those in Australia. Miss Payton said that Miss Mona McLeod, ex-champion and Australia’s best player, was on the two mark while Mrs Gatehouse, who won the championship last Friday, was on the four mark. Against these Miss Oliver Kay was on scratch and Miss Payton on one. The travellers were delighted-with the performances of Miss Kay.
