SERIOUS CHARGE.
McCONKEY AGAIN. BEFORE
COURT.
Before Mr Justice Smith and a jury of twelve the hearing was common ! at the Supreme Court this aftenu-m of the trial of Robert McConkev, a carpenter, 53 years of age, on a charge of indecent assault on a 13-year-Jii girl at Aorangi on July 4. Mr Cooke appeared for the Crown and Mr Cooper for the defence. The following jury was empanelled: —Messrs W. Louis (foreman), C. J. Brown, A. Harvey, A. Dryden, G. Bannerman, L. H. Winton, W. E. Greenfield. A. J. Hunt; A. Wyelierley, W. S. Dustin, G. W. Aldridge, D. U. Say well. At the request .of the Crown Prosecutor the court was cleared, while His Honour also ordered that the evidence should not be published. -
