UNWELCOME VISITOR.
ASSAULT AT MIDNIGHT.
SEQUEL IN THE COURT
MORRINSVILLE, Aug. 1
A man, about 30 years of age, whoso name was ordered to be suppressed, was charged in the Morrinsville Magistrate’s Court with committing an assault at midnight. Tlie police evidence was that accused, who was a stranger to the locality, attended a dance at Kiwitahi about 10 days ago and offered to drive two girls home in his car, but the invitation was pointedly refused. At 10 p.m. on Wednesday lie telephoned the father of tl; girls and was told that he was looked upon as a source of annoyance, and that he was not wanted. Shortly before midnight lie appeared at the home of the girls and used abusive language when a door was opened by their father, who attempted to eject the unwelcome visitor.
A scuffle was ended by tlie parent pushing accused through a window. The police were called and accused, who was seen to be intoxicated, spent the night in the cells. A fine of £2 was imposed, and accused was also ordered to pay 15s for tlie-re-pair of the broken window.
