DEATH OF FINANCIER.
EVIDENCE OF SUICIDE. . (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). (Australian Press Association). Received July 0, 1.50 p.m. LONDON, July 5. Captain Ijoewenstein’s death has caused a sensation. It is stated that exceptional force is needed to open the fatal door. Decoased’s vallet, Baxter, states that Captain Loewenstcin had been in the habit of opening tbe door and gazing at the sea when crossing the Channel. The Belgian authorities expres the belief that the evidence points to suicide rather than accident. A high financial authority states that Captain Loewenstcin lately had been embarrassed and had been refused credit amounting to 200 million francs |n England. This left him unable to cover important obligations. A message from Brussels states that Captain Loewenstein failed to float a twenty-five million dollar loan in America, and it had boen rumoured that.he lost £5,000,000 on the Brussels House.
