SENIOR-SERGEANT O’GRADY h HONOURED. BY TERRACE END BOWLING I CLUB. " _ | There was a large attendance in| the pavilion last evening when mcm| bers of the Terrace End Bowling, Cro|i quot and Tennis Club met to farewell' Senior-Sergeant O’Grady, who has; been transfenred. on promotion, to| Auckland. .? Mr W. H. Moffatt, president of the! club, who occupied the chair, in pro-; posing the health of the guest, stated; that the club was losing a very valu-j able member and the town a very good' citizen. Mr O’Gradv had taken a very keen interest in the general welfare of the club, and had been one of its most prominent players. He had always been ready to .assist the club, and Mr Moffatt was quite sure he was voicing the opinion of all the members when he said that they very much regretted the loss of such -an esteemed member. Tho speaker then presented Mr O’Grady with a smoker s outfit, wishing .both him and Mrs O’Grady the best of health and happiness in their new home. Other members of the club supported the chairman. regretting Mr O’Grady’s departure. • • . In reply, Mr O'Grady expressed his appreciation of the kind thought of the club. He had spient. many happy hours with the Terrace End bowlers, and valued the friendships made on the green. ■Ho had been connected with bowling for a number of years, but could say truly that nowhere had he experienced that real bowling spirit and goodfellowship which was manifest at the Terrace End Club. In conclusion, he invited members to visit him when in the Queen City.
