RIFLEMEN’S REUNION.
SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION,
Tho Wellington Mounted Rifles (N.Z.E.F.) held their annual reunion last evening when over 200 men were present. The chair was taken by Colonel J. 11. Whyte, officer in charge of the Central Command, and formerly colonel of the unit. A lengthy toast list was honoured, the order being as follows: —“Tiro King,” “Absent Comrades,” proposed by Lieut-Colonel McLean (honoured in silence); “The Visitors,” proposed by Colonel Whyte, responded to by Mr J. A. Nash, M.P.; ‘Our Chairman,” proposed by Lieut.Colotnel Batchelar, responded to by Colonel Whyte; “The Regiment,” proposed bv Mr J. A. Nash, responded to by Major J. B. Ilinc; “Brigadier General Meldrum,” proposed by Colonel Whyte; “Lieut. H. B. Bennett,” proposed by Colonel Whyte; •‘Mr Clutha McKenzie,” proposed by Major Wilkie. The Jubilee Institute for the Blind was coupled with this toast.
A lengthy programme of musical items met with a good reception.
