WINTER SHOW.
PREPARATIONS FOR FIXTURE. BIG GOVERNMENT EXHIBITS. Arrangements for the Winter Show, to commence next Tuesday, are well ahead, and all indications point to a most successful fixture. Space is well taken up, both inside and out, and som,o novelties are promised in regard to sideshows. Care is being taken in connection with the latter to eliminate
the doubtful element, S Four Government departments will have exhibits, and there is a possibility of a fifth, representations having been made to secure a Public Works exhibit. The Department of Health will have an exhibit for the first time at local shows. The Department of Agriculture will have exhibits both in regard to the slimv proper and the Manawatu Poultry Association’s fixture. Entries for the latter are good, and a fine display is promised in No. o Hall.
A good programme of evening entertainments has been arranged. On tli© first night there will be dancing, "Allowed by boxing on Wednesday. . hursday will see the association’s smoke concert, at which the principal guests will be His Excellency the Governor-General, the Prime Minister. Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates and Hon. 0. J. Hawken. National dancing will provide the programme the following evening, and on Saturday there will be jazz. Judging by the number of applications that have been received for accommodation. the farmers' train from Frankton will be very well patronised, and several hundred are expected to come to Palmerston North by it.
