AID FOR AMERICAN SHIP-
BUILDERS,
(Australian Press Association.) Received May 24, 9.5 a.m. ' WASHINGTON, May. 23. President Coolidge to-day signed the Jones-White Bill, a measure which is designed to maintain a strong .American merchant marine. The bill, increases fo 250,000,000 dollars the present 125,000,000 dollars’ construction loan fund to private shipbuilders. The bill also increases the present rates for contract mail-carrying, and provides that the United States Shipping Board vessels may be sold to private interests only by the vote of five of tile seven members.
