TRIAL OF RECTOR.
GUILTY OF BAD LANGUAGE
(Australian Press Association.) Received May 24, 8.45 a.m. LONDON. May 23. Tho commission inquiring into the eftso of .Rev. O. Hayden, rector of the village of Avering, Gloucester (who was charged with being seen with Miss Chipps, tlio village schoolmistress, in compromising circumstances, habitually swearing and using foul language, drinking beyond his requirements _in alehouses and taverns, and treating others therein, telling offensive stories, and negleeting*his parish duties) found him guilty of bad language, but not guilty of all tho other charges.
It was alleged that Rev. Hayden and Miss Chipps cycled twice by different routes to the woods, were seen leaving a cave, and were seen behind bushes. It was further alleged that they were once a one in t.ho rectory for several hours, and that Mr Hayden referred to a school visitor as a “white-whiskered old —“sometimes I sav ‘Tut, tut’ when very much annoyed, admitted Rev Hayden at his trial.
