(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOOTBALL. On Saturday Foxton juniors met and wero defeated by Shannon, at Shannon. Tho homo team proved too heavy for tho local fifteen who wero unablo to place their usual players in tho field owing to a number being in canm. The game ended, Shannon 18 points, Foxton nil. R. G. Findlay, a local player, sustained a. broken collar-bone, and 11. Taylor head injuries. Both players will bo incapacitated for tho remainder of tho season.
Tho Foxton seniors lost, to Shannon seniors at Foxton by 18 points to 3. Procter scored Foxton’s only try. A mooting of tho Foxton Rugby Football Club was held last Friday, being presided ovor by Air 11. Hutchins. A motion of sympathy was passed to Air T. Tuna in his recent illness. It was decided to hold a danco in tho Alasonic Hall next Friday ovening. Accounts amounting to £9 10s 3d wero passed for payment. AIILITARY CAMP. A special train on Friday afternoon conveyed ovor 100 moro recruits to Foxton to participate iri tho mounted rifles camp. Tho camp now comprises 320 men which havo at their disposal 150 horses. Target practice was commenced on . Friday with Hotchkiss and other quick-firing guns nr.d will bo continued during tho coming week. Tho camp has suffered a good deal as a result of tho heavy wind experienced all last week. Two largo marquees' were blown down. Tho health of tho men is reportod to bo good. Camp breaks up next Saturday morning.
