Carloton, the Canterbury representative back for the vacancy in the New Zealand Rugby team for South Africa caused by tire inability of A. E. Cooke to make tho trip, was confirmed at a meeting of .the New Zealand Rugby Union’s management committee last evening. Various details in. connection with the team’s departure from Wellington were . discussed by the committee Prior to sailing, the team is to play an exhibition match in Wellington in aid of the Olympic Games fund. The appointments of captain and vice-captain of tho team are to be made when tne reports of the medical examination of the players are complete.
