AUSTRALIAN BORROWING. FEELING IN BRITAIN. "PERTH, Jan. 10. The feeling in British financial circles regarding the industrial outlook kis more hopeful, said Sir Alfred Meeksk, chairman of directors of the A.M.P. Society, who returned by the Orsova to-day from an eight-months visit to England. The general impression, he added, was that Australia was borrowing too much, though financiers are quite satisfied about Australian securities. One aspect of Australian thrift, which was not generally known, was the large number of individual depositors in our savings banksk, averaging £26 a head.There was considerable discussion in England regarding the necessity for evolving a method of safeguarding the manufacturing industries which now were seriously affected by foreign competition.
