PICTURE BY GREAT ARTIST. Received January 19, 1.30 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 18. Lord Woolavington has purchased Longstaff’s inspired picture “Ghosts of Menin Gato” which, lie states, ho is “proud to offer Australia in remembrance of her gallant soldiers and as a mark of esteem for the Commonwealth. “I am impressed by tho picture, and tho only condition is ib bo suitably hung at Canberra.” It is understood that Longstaff originally asked £3OOO for the picture, but was willing to accept less provided that it went to Australia. —A. and N.Z. cable.
