WAR VETERAN PROSECUTED. LONDON, Dec. 1. “Some principle,” says the Daily 'Mail in the heading of the story of James Dowle, a Gloucestershire tinworker, who joined up during the Great AVar, although he was over age. He served throughout the war and his son won the D.C.M. and the ■French War- Cross.' Dowle kept his daughter home from school on Poppy Day to sell poppies for the benefit of his’ disabled comrades. Tho Education Committee promptly prosecuted “on principle,” j and secured a fine of 10s.
