TRENTHAM TRAINING NOTES. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Oct. 18.. A strong westerly with driving ram made matters rather unpleasant at Trentham this morning. The rain lasted only an hour or so, and not enough fell to more than freshen up the tracks. As practically no visiting horses have arrived, there was nothing of great interest.
Endorse with a light boy up was sent to do strong pace work, but the lad failed to hold her and she did a smart half mile. Chit bowled along the grass over half a mile in 49 secs, going well all the way. Gleninnes, picked up by Priceless, did six furlongs on the grass in 1.21. Historic and Black-Eye Sue did three furlongs on the plough in 38 3-5 secs. Kentish Lady hit out well for a sprint down the straight. Quantum on the plough going comfortably al the way did half a mile in 51 secs.
Concentrate II and Humoresque ran half a mile on the grass in 53£ secs. Royal Picture was going better than Bank Draft over half a mile that occupied 50 secs. Fari was not knocked about to run seven furlongs on the plough in 1. 35. . Tiega strode along at fair pace work. She is a shapely filly. Grand Knight with a lightweight up went very fast from the seven furlong post, the first two furlongs in 25 secs, half a mile in 50 secs, and the full distance in 1.30 3-5. As the centre of the grass gallop was in use, he really covered more than seven furlongs. Wild Pigeon accompanied him over the last half mile and naturally was doing better. Kindle and Oratrix were not hurried to do half a mile on the grass in 53 3-5 secs. Radion and Black Mint were together at the end of half a mile run in 53 1-5 secs.
