SHOT IN MOTOR CAR.
NEW SOUTH WALES TRAGEDY.
THREE MEN REMANDED,
SYDNEY, Sept. 14. Herbert Higgs, William Higgs, and Bruce Higgs, three brothers of Rose Bay, who were arrested on a charge of murdering Ronald Lachlan Leslie (who was found shot in his motor car), were remanded for a week without bail. Their counsel said that they were members of a family possessed of comfortable means, were all of unimpeachable character, and could give a good account of their actions on the day of the tragedy. There was no motive for their committing the crime. The magistrate, on the advice of the police, refused the application for bail. —Press Association. ANOTHER CASE. WIFE ADMITS SHOOTING. SYDNEY, Oct. 14. Norman Hoey, a shearing contractor, was shot dead while sitting in his motor-car in a street in Inverell. His wife was later charged with his murder. In a statement to the police she said she had been living apart from him for three years, and as she did not receive justice in court when she sued her husband for allegedly trying to run her down in his motor-car recently, she had shot him to protect herself.—Press Association. ’
