SECONDARY SCHOOL.
NEW BUILDING AT FOXTON. MINISTER INSPECTS PLANS. WTen at Foxton yesterday during his tour of the district, the Minister of Public Works (Hon. K. S. Williams) was waited on by a deputation consisting of the Mayor (Mr M. E. Perreau) and Messrs J. K. Hornblow and Roore Rangilieuea (chairman and secretary respectively of the school committee) who displayed plans of the new secondary school to be erected in Foxton on ground given by Maoris of the district. The school is costing £6OOO.
The section was cleared this week, and the Wanganui Education Board’s architect (Mr Hodge) was in the township yesterday taking levels. Work will he commenced immediately on the building, which is to he a handsome brick structure in keeping with the present up-to-date State schools. Before the plans were inspected it was explained that the girls and boys had had to travel to Palmerston North for their secondary education. Hon. Mr Williams commented favourably. on the plans and expressed his pleasure that the work was being commenced.
