NOTORIOUS BANDIT.
SPECIALIST IN JEWEL ROBBERIES. .
TAKEN AFTER STRUGGLE,
LONDON, Aug. 13,
The Paris correspondent of the Daily News reports that a notorious Italian bandit, Santo Polastri, who for years has evaded the European police, has been arrested after a desperate struggle. Signor Mussolini has demanded his extradition.
Assisted by a gang of criminals, to whom lie paid high wages, Pollastri specialised in Franco-Italian jewellery robberies, in the course of which, it is alleged, ten murders were committed. Pollastri at first denied his identity, but confessed when confronted by members of his own gang, of whom 30 were recently arrested.—A. and N.Z. cable.
