CHARGE OF THEFT.
MAN FINED. Charged before Messrs W. F. Durward arid J). J. Lovelock, J.P.’s, at the Police Court this morning with the theft, at Palmerston North, on August 4, of a grease gun valued at 30s, the property of John Jervis Gillies, Robert William Wilson Stewart, 40 years of age, pleaded guilty. Senior-Detective. Quirke stated that accused lrad been employed by Mr Gillies temporarily, and that, on leaving hie employ, he had stolen the article mentioned. Nothing was previously known against him. He had already been in custody for ten days. The Bench imposed a fine of £l, in default 48 hours’ imprisonment.
