CIVIC LEAGUE.

MEETING LAST WEEK

A meeting of the Palmerston North Civic League was held on Friday last. There was a very fair attendance of members, and some important discussions took place. The secretary was instructed to communicate with the Borough Council with reference to the recent increases in salary of the borough staff and also requesting that the council consider taking in hand a certain amount of improvements to Milverton Park.

The following resolution was passed: —“That, judging from the discussion which has taken place in Parliament recently, it is apparent that the Massey College is not to receive university status, and a_ strong protest is made against the raising of any loan by the ratepayers until such, a status is given as it was under this condition that the loan was voted for.”
