unusual experience of Mr H. Old, a son of Mr Robert Old, farmer. The accident occurred on the TailiapePukeokahu road, near Mr J. Pine’s farm. , -
Mr Old was driving into Taihape in a gig when the horse staggered ter the edge of the road and fell dead, taking the gig and the bank. .Mr Old was thrown, out and fell to the bottom of the bank, bufcthe horse and gig calne to rest beside a tree half-way down the bank. Among other things the gig contained a heavy . crowbar, which was thrown out and penetrated the ground a few inches away from Mr OlcTj who had a miraculous' escape from any serious injury. He was badly shaken and bruised.
