MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —The election of Mayor and councillors is drawing near. The candidates aie busy in pursuit of Mayoral honours. Hut what of the councillors? Orly three, so far, have addressed the electors. Cr. Fitzherbert, speaking at the Opera House, informs us how lie successfully engineered a scheme to cut up and dispose of a number of reserves. Air Milverton has entered the arena in no uncertain manner, while Cr. Canton, addressing the electors at Takaro, appeals to some public-spirited citizen to donate a shelter shed in that locality. That accounts for three. What of the others? Have they no policy to place before the electors? We don’t want to buy a “pig in a poke.” There are several questions of importance to answer. What is the council going to do to relieve the army of unemployed this winter? Now then, pull your socks up or you will become barnacles on the municipal barge.—l am, etc.. ELECTOR.
