BURGLARS IN MUSIC SHOP.
GRAMOPHONE GOODS STOLEN
Per Press Association,
AUCKLAND, April 21
Burglars broke into Howie’s music shop in Upper Queen Street last night. An entrance was effected by a rear window leading into the gramophone demonstrating room. .. Once inside the shop the visitors went to the cash register, where a sum of £L was deposited, and took this money. . - On either side of the main shop are shelves where thousands of gramophone records are stacked in classified pigeon-holes. Evidently the thieves were in search of some particular records, for they removed about 5000 discs in their search for them. Instead of replacing the ones they did net' desire they carelessly threw them on the floor, many being smashed. Both the front shop and the demonstrating room presented a scene of oonfusipn. Records, needles and other accessories littered the floor.
It is impossible at present to ascertain exactly what was stolen. However, it is known that five reproducers worth £3O and many records *have been stolen.
