PIERCING RAY DISCOVERED.

LONDON, April 14. Mr John Baircl, the inventor of apparatus for projecting pictures by wireless and kindred wonders, attributes his invention of the “Noctoviser” fogpiercing searchlight to the fact of hisi assistant during an experiment smoking a cigarette, the smoke of which was not projected on the screen. After two sleepless nights, says the Daily News, Mr Baird realised that the infra-red ray which he was using had penetrated the smoke and he coiicluded that probably it - would do the same in a fog. It did.
