On Tuesday evening a most impressive service was held in the Alethodist Church, Biinnylhorpe, when .the giving over took place of this part of the BunnythorpeAshhurst circuit to the Rev. F. J. Parker, the new minister appointed. Tho service, which vas carried out by Rev. H. T. Peat (C iba street) Palmerston North) Rev. Parsons (St. Paul’s, Palmerston North) and Rev. W. Neal (Sanson), opened with the hymn “The Church’s One Foundation,” after which Air Parsons read a passage of the Bible, John 10, versos 1 to 5. Air Peat read the charges (of accep ancc to the Rev. Air Parker as minister if the circuit and welcomed him with the hand of friendship. On the congregati jr rising and accepting Air Parker as the: r minister, Air Neal offered a blessing o the minister and the church members. Air Peat delivered a short address id which he said that, on this occasion, o e had accepted and tho other had received >ne who was going to labour as their ml istcr. He wished them God’s blessing. The speaker referred to the past four years in which he had been connected v th this part of tho circuit and trusted t at they would successfully carry, on the g od work. In handing the people to his oa e he wished Mr Parker and Mrs Parker a ,d family God’s blessing. Air J. H. Dixoi , on behalf of the church members and the district, extended a hearty welcome o the minister and his wife and family, f cpressing tho hope that their labours : mongst them would be crowned with the Lord’s blessing. At the close of the service light sup >er was provided by the Ladies’ Guild in the Sunday school room. Alcssi-s J. Caldwell, G. Aloore and N. Donovan, of Waitoa, Waikato, who were on a mo or trip via New Plymouth, spent the East r holiday with friends in Bunnythorpe. A nun oer of residents on Saturday evening; ist, motored to Foxton to bestow their g< >d wishes on Air and Airs T. Taylor ( he latter nee Aliss Fowler) who are shor y leaving on their honeymoon trip to tle islands and San Francisco. Quietly jrganised, tho party arrived by cars at he secluded spot. The chiefs of ! the baiid . party first proceeded to pay an! informal tall to ascertain if all was well. Everythli J being favourable, the throng then con menced to make their presence heard b; kerosene tins, tin trays, etc. One and all joined in the din, and as the bride i.n bridegroom appeared, the din increased in harmony and vigour. On Airs Taylor b ing presented with a bouquet, a shower c confetti fell which was doubled and treb ?d when tho party left. The welcom s rom Air and Airs Fowler (senr.) was heai y and extended, and a very pleasan; evening was spent. After the customer; toasts were honoured the raiders le't, quite pleased at having the opportunity of serenading one who had lived amongst them for years and left them about' tw years ago. Air Taylor extended a hearty welcome to all at their homo and on bear f of Airs Taylor and himself thanked veryono for tho kindly greetings and pica ant surprise. To drive behind and watch the antics of other cars as the drive :s strove to keep them straight over tie corrugations is an accomplishment eel psed only at the cinema. On Friday s veral cars swung almost broadside on i.s the drivers came suddenly upon the wore road at a high speed.

Mr am Mrs Clark, very old residents of Glen Croua, are leaving the district. They are said to have had a satisfactory sale. The asual monthly meeting of the Town Board v is held on Tuesday when there were pre ent Messrs L. H. Yarrall (chairman), V\ J. Croucher, S. J. Leaz, K. JArnott a id A. Simonson.

The 11 ingotea School committee wrote asking fc ■ a concession in the charge made for the lire of the Town Hall used for a public meeting.—Granted. The Minister of Finance forwarded a letter r< garding the submission of proposals, t< ■ the local government board, before pro Ceding or taking steps to raise loans.—Received.

The Hospital Board, Palmerston North, wrote regarding the contributions duo by the Rcngotea Town Board.—Received. It wis decided that a refund of Ss be made ;o the Rongotca School committee for the hire of the Coronation Hall for the public meeting held on April 8 for the purpose of making arrangements for the official opening ceremony of the new school.

A d3p itation consisting of Mfsdames Bower, j mies and Caverhill waited on the board us ing it tio take the custody of the crockeiy purchased out of funds raised for the ] jrpose of equipping the hall with a quanti y of crockery; secondly, that tho board pi y the small deficiency owing on the sail crockery; thirdly, suggesting that a chrfrgi bo made of 5s for the hire of the creel.ery, to defray breakages, and to maintain the quantity. At this juncture Mr W. f. Croucher took the opportunity of thank ng the ladies for supplying crockery for public use in the hall, uiid .expressed hanks on behalf of tho board for their energetic efforts in this direction. He asiu ed them that the board would make suitable arrangements in connection with the crockeiy. Mr A. Bull also waited on tho board requesting' that work for which he paid sanitation rates be carriod out regularly. Mr Bull was informed that his request would be acceded to.

It was decided that £1 be paid to Mrs Bower oil behalf of the. ladies who inaugurated tiie purchase of the crockery for use in ti e Town Hall; also that no charge be made for l/ne use of the board room

and hall in arranging for the- crockery for the hall. A charge of.ss. is to be made for the use of the crockery at the hall by any persons or committees engaging the hall for any social functions, etc. It was decided that the board inspect the Town Hall and consider the requirements of tho .insurance company whereby a reduction of the present heavy rate of premium might be obtainable by complying with the regulations .governing a lower scale of premiums. Until further notice the hour of meeting for the board will bo 7.30 p.m. instead of 8 p.m. as at present. Mr Croucher gave notice of motion: That after the expiry of the current year the practice of the board in removing nightsoil be discontinued, or, alternately, if the' board continues to undertake the responsibility for nightsoil removal that tho sanitation rate bo raised to such a sum as will be calculated to defray all costs therewith. Accounts amounting to £63 2s were passed for payment. .
