FIRE AT WAIROA.
THEATRE DESTROYED
Per Press Association,
WAIROA April 7. Everybody’s Theatre, a large wooden building on the North Clyde side of the town, was burned to the ground early this morning. The theatre was used for pictures and a dance hall by E. Munro. A card tournament was held last night, but everything appeared to be safe when the caretaker locked up shortly after midnight. The fire had a good hold and the building was doomed when the brigade arrived and nothing was saved. Fortunately there was no wind or otherwise a large block of buildings would have gone. The building was owned by Maloney’s estate. The insurance on the building was £750, and on the cinema plant, engines, dynamo, films, etc., £350, £9OO, and £9OO in different offices.
