SYDNEY, March 27,
After a brief illness Professor A. Anstruther Lawson, Professor of Botany* at Sydney University, died in a private hospital at 3.30 yesterday afternoon. Only a week ago a London cable announced that Professor Laivson had been selected for a fellowship by the Council of the Royal Society of London. He graduated D.Sc. at the Glasgow University, and came to Sydney in 1913 to open a school of botany. To-day his school at the University is regarded as one of the finest in' the world.
Last year the University of Adelaide conferred upon him the honorary degree of D.Sc. He was unmarried.
