KING OF SPAIN.

RECENT ILLNESS. MORE SEVERE THAN INDICATED. LONDON, March 15. An uncensored message received by the Morning Post, via Gibraltar, states that King Alfonso’s illness has been more serious than was indicated. Official bulletins state that he contracted pleuro-pneumonia as an after effec of influenza, and his right lung is in a bad state. His condition throughout one night was critical, all the Court physicians being in attendance.

King Alfonso has sent a message to the nation: “I have passed through three days’ severe illness, but thanks be to God my troubles are overcome. My spirits have never sunk for a moment. I have never ceased thinking of my people.”—A. and N.Z. cable.
