BOWLING TOURNAMENT.

END OF SEVENTH ROUND. CAUTIOUS PLAY ON SLOW GREENS The seventh round of the Manawatu Bowling Centre’s New Year tournament was entered upon this morning in fine weather although the greens played heavily as the result of rain overnight. As a result bowlers were cautious and it was early afternoon before the first round of the day was decided. At its conclusion Herdman (Feilding) and Eraser (Palmerston North) in section A led with 6 wins and one loss each, Williams (Dannevirke) being similarly placed in the other section. The last two rounds of section play were expected to ho concluded by this evening and the leaders will enter on postsection play at 8.45 a.m. to-morrow. This morning’s games resulted as follow : Section A. Seventh round.—Duncalf 20 beat Matheson 18; Morris 21 heat Gagliardi 16; Herdman 21 heat Rankin 18 ; Cunninghame 21 beat Thomson 7 ; Kershaw 22 beat Arnott 14 ; Fraser 21 beat Corbridgo 20. Section B. Seventh round.—Williams 24 heat Mortland 16; Tantrum 23 beat Wilson 15; Crump 22 beat Carston 16; Collins 22 beat Davidson 13; Radford 27 heat Teale 17; Wardrop 26 beat Anderson 21.
