PUBLICATIONS RECEIVED.
AUSTRALIAN WRITERS’ EFFORTS From Messrs Angus and Robertson, Ltd., of Sydney, we hpve received a copy of “Fancy Dress and Other Verne,” by Dorothea Mackellar, an Australian writer, who in this, as in her previous publications, readies a very high literary standard. For those whoso taste runs to short verse, the book will have a decided appeal. It is a contribution of no mean merit to the higher literary, achievements of Antipodean writers, and to those interested in verso jt will prove very acceptable. “My Daily Message.” a work from the pen of Millieent Preston Stanley, the representative for Eastern Suburbs in the New South Wales Parliament, is a book with a different appeal. Written for the masses, it deals, as Mr W. M. Hughes, ex-Premier of Australia, remarks in tho preface, with life not as it is portrayed on the film, but as it is lived by tho multitude. Consisting of a series of upwards of one hundred powerfullywritten short essays, tho publication should meet with a good demand. In the words of Mr Hughes, “those who buy this book buy a good thing.” Our copy is from Messrs Angus and Robertson, Ltd,
