HAWKE’S BAY JOCKEY CLUB.
SUMMER MEETING
To-morrow will be a busy day in the /aciug world, as meetings will'be held ju all quarters of the Dominion. Enthusiasts in this district will be afforded the opportunity of attending the Marton or Hawke’s Bay gatherings, where attractive programmes are to be submitted. At Hastings the fields are 'of very fair dimensions and some interesting racing should result. In the Otatara Jumpers’ Plat Handicap Alaric, has been penalised 91bs as the, result of his win at Waipukurau and .is now asked to carry 11.11. While weight stops the best, the San Fran gelding may go on winning, although Polyastra or Good Mark may be obstacles in his path. Comedic has proved somewhat of a failure, but will be afforded an opportunity to open his winning account in the -Mahora Maiden, in which Haku•wai and Ahalama also have a chance to make, good. BoyaF Damon and Father O’Flynn represent form in the Hastings Handicap, run over 6i furlongs, but Queen’s Choice, if again himself, should offer considerable opposition. Polydectes has been re-handicapped to 8.7 in the Juvenile, but Rory Mor and Desiree may upset the top-weiglit. Perle de Leon was expected in some quarters to win at Awapuni, and with Tiega should play a prominent role in the President’s Handicap, run over a mile and a-quarter. f Class does not appear to be 'very strong .in the Waipatu Welter, and Mountain Star, a winner at Waipukurau, and Radiate should hold their opponents. Starboard Light and Moepai, two of . the candidates in the Havelock Flying ' Handicap, were winners at Waipukurau and, despite their increased poundages 1 , should again run well. Wristlet, however, is long overdue for a win. The composition of the field in the .Stewards’ Handicap' appears most uncertain and Royal Damon r -Epistle and Nine of Spades may be numbered among the missing, while Father O’Flynn claims another engagement. Plain Sailing and Father O’Flynn may, howeVer, fight out the issue. FOXTON RACING CLUB. CLOSING OF NOMINATIONS.
