THE LIONS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —In answer to my name-sake’s letter in your paper putting it across, and being cross with the human and animal lions, I wish to state that Mr Tapp/ “tapps” the nail on the head when he contradicts Mr Lyons’s statement. The latter said that the lions never roar, but he should probably knock off taking sleeping draughts. I live approximately twelve chains from this local zoo, and can hear them quite plainly. I awake at night, although having a clear conscience, thinking I am in the lonely forests of Africa.—l am, etc., J. TAPP. P.S.—lf the new syren doesn’t soon go wrong there will bo plenty of houses to let.
