DEMOCRATIC POMP.

GIFTS WORTH £IOO,OOO. NEW YORK, June 6. Almost regal pomp attended the wedding of Miss Emily Smith, daughter of the Democrat Governor of New York State, at Albany, on Saturday, to Major John Warner. Among the guests were 1500 of the wealthiest society people, who sailed up the Hudson River in five palatial yachts and 500 residents of New York’s East Side, where Governor Smith was born. Contingents of the army and navy formed guards of honour. Business in the State capital ceased during the ceremony, and thousands lined the streets adjoining the church to witness the procession. The bride received gifts valued at 500,000 dollars (over £100,000).
