The five is supposed to have started in the fireplace. The brigade attended promptly, but the fire had a good hold upon the flooring and other woodwork, and it took an hour to get control. The damage is extensive, but t;o estimate has been formed. Outside accommodation will be secured to enable the school to carry on during its rebuilding. The building was insured for £II,OOO. The damage probably will run into five or six thousand sterling. There were fires in two or three rooms Inst night, but when the premises were locked up everything seemed safe, and as lato as 2 a.m. there was no outward sign of anythin** wrong. The fire was first observed by a boy in the boarding establishment nearby shortly before 4 a.m.
