SON SHOOTS FATHER. CRIME IN AUSTRALIA. VERDICT OF MANSLAUGHTER. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received April 9, 9.55 a.m. SYDNEY, April 9. Bruce Havelock Strong, who shot his father following a family quarrel, and who was charged with murder, was found guilty of manslaughter and remanded for sentence. —Press Association.

Alexander Strong, aged 57, is alleged to havo threatened the members of hi 3 family at Smith’s Creek, near Murwillumbah. His son, Bruce, aged 26, is stated to have fired two shots with a rifle at his father, killing him. Bruce Strong in a statement to the police said that ho fired in selfdefence. At the inquest the coroner said that although the evidence showed that deceased was a remarkably cruel man and became practically a maniac when under tho influence of liquor, lie could not define accused’s action as anything other than murder.
