SEX DETERMINATION.
STRANGE POWER CLAIMED. NEW YORK, March 16. A fantastic secret was revealed, after many years’ silence, by Edward Hatch, a tanner, of Brewster, New \ork State. The water on his farm, he claims, has the peculiar power of bringing about an overwhelming preponderance of male births. Tho hired man’s wife has had seven sons.
Ninety-seven per cent, of tho animals bom on the farm are males, ail the chickens arc roosters, and even tho house cat has had seven male kittens.
Some years ago, Hatch alleges, the Russian Consul went to the farm and .ooK away a barrel of tho water. He refused to divulge his purpose, but about a year later a male heir was born to the imperial Russian throne.
