SCENE AT A DINNER. WOMAN’S NARROW ESCAPE. Received April 1, 12.35 p.m. LONDON, April 31. Hugh Daily, who was charged with throwing an explosive missile at the dinner given by tho Four Provinces of Ireland Club on March 17, was committed for trial.

A woman diner who was sitting near Mr Baldwin gave evidenco that the missile struck her cheek, fell on the table and then on to tho floor, and burst into flames. Her evening dress was badly burned, but she was unhurt.—Reuter. BRAVERY oFT PRIEST. LONDON, March 20. How a priest, Fnther Evans, tried to prevent Hugh Daly, who was arrested and charged with throwing a bomb during the St. Patrick’s Day dinner at the Hotel Cecil, from throwing tho bomb at the Premier (Mr Baldwin), and also prevented his escape, was told at the Bow street Police Court.

The priest tried to seize Daly’s arm, but failed. He then grappled with the accused until a detective guarding the Premier rushed into tho gallery and arrested Daly. The magistrate was shown the missile, six inches by four. Others similar in appearance but containing explosive were found in tho gallery. Daly, it was said, wore evening dress, dined in an adjoining room, and went to tho gallery for the Premier’s speech. Ho was charged with throwing an oxplosivo missile with inte'nt to do bodily harm. The magistrate said the case might prove to be a most serious one.

Daly is 24 years old, and a cellarman of a Fleet street hotel. Ho hails from Ballyshannon, Ireland.
