EXPLANATION OF ATTITUDE
LONDON, Jan. 25. Sir Gerald Strickland denies that lie has joined tlie Maltese Labour Party, but says lie agreed to vote with” that party against the Coalition under pro-Italian leadership, as lie stands for English education against tlie reimposition of Italian.—A. and N.Z. cable.
The Central News’ Malta correspondent stated that a sensation had been caused by the announcement that Sir Gerald Strickland had joined the Maltese Labour Party, thus-plac-ing him in the anomalous position of being a Labour supporter in Malta and a Conservative member of the, British House of Commons.
