SUCCESSES AT AUCKLAND. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Jan. 24. The American athletes, Scliolz and Hahn, wero very successful in their first appearance in Auckland yesterday. Seholz won the 100 yards handicap from scratch in 10 seconds and tho 220 yards from scratch in 21 2-5 seconds'. * Hahn won the one mile handicap from scratch in 4min. 28sec, and from scratch deadheated with F. C- Gilmour, of New Plymouth (ten yards) in tho 440 yards in 51 3-6 secs. These'* were the only races in which the Americans ran.

Gilmour (20 yards) won the 880 yards handicap in 2min. 2sec.
