DEATH OF A MINER

STRUCK BY LUMP OF COAL. Per Press Association. WESTPORT, Jan. 21. An inquest was held at Millerton to-day touching the death of John Brown, who was killed yesterday while working in the Westport Coal Company’s Millerton mine. Evidence was' given to the effect that the deputy fired a shot and, after examining the working face, left on his rounds. Deceased was in the act of dressing the face with a pick whert a lump of coal weighing about ono hundredweight camo away, falling on his head and fracturing his skull and neck. Death was instantaneous. A verdict of accidental death, no blame being attachable to anyone, was returned.
