BANK NOTE SCANDAL
REVELATIONS PROMISED,
EXCITEMENT IN BUDAPEST,
(By Electric Telegraph.--Copyright.) Received January 21, 11.20 a.m. BUDAPEST, Jan. 20.
“There is going to be a great con frontation,” promised the Premier, Count Betlilen, in a speech in tho Assembly during the debate on the bank note scandal.
The Assembly was packed with deputies and tho public, and the proceedings were most animated. Much of Count Betlilen’s speech was inaudible al'iovo the din, members on the Left shouting loudly in chorus: “Resign!” while the Government supporters made a counter-de-monstration, standing and cheering the Premier. The latter emphasised tlie fact that tho Government is not evading its responsibility, but the duty of ascertaining the facts was tho business of the courts rather than of the Government, thoug the latter wished to clear up the political background if such existed. Count Betlilen repeated that there was no trace of any revolutionary schemes.—A. and N.Z. cable.
