INTER-CLUB MATCHES. ,Tho first inter-club 'bowling matches for AVednesday players were played yesterday, tho Palmejrs/.on North, Northern, Torraco End and Manawatu Clubs participating. Palmerston North secured a win over Northern, and Terraco End beat Manawatu. Tho results of play wore as follow : PALMERSTON NORTH v. NORTHERN. DOMINION TOURNAMENT. RESULTS OF POST-SECTION PLAY. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Jan. 20. Tho Dominion bowling tournament was advanced a further stag© to-day. As far as the weather was concerned, the day was one of tho best experienced since tho tournament was commenced. The greens were very keen and some splendid games were witnessed by tho numerous spectators. Tho day was devoted to the rinks and pairs championships.

In tho rinks competition three rounds of post-section play were decided. There wore 17 rinks left at tho close of tho section play, but after to-day’s games tho number was reduced to nine. The post-section p'ay is decided on tho two-life system, and at present there aro three rinks— Casey (Carlton), Thomson (Invercargill) and Gray (Kelburn) —with two lives, and six—Stewart (Dunedin), Hutchison (Dunedin), AA 7 right (St. Helier’s), Gibson (Taieri), Malcolm (Balmacewan) and Harraway (Dunedin)—with one life. Pilkington, whose rink won the championship last year, went out in tho third round of post-section play. Details of tho games are as follow : CHAMPIONSHIP RINKS. FIRST ROUND.

A few games were played in the championship pairs competition, but this event has been held up on account of some of the players still left in it being engaged in the championship rinks. Six games have still to be played before all the green winners are found, but three of these will be decided to-morrow morning. Some of the post-section games have been decided, and already Adess (St. Kilda) and Tamblyn (St. Kilda) are assured of being in the last four. Results are as follow:

CARNIVAL IN AUSTRALIA

ENTRIES FROM NEAV ZEALAND

SYDNEY,. Jan. 20. For tho forthcoming bowling carnival for tho Australian and New Zealand championship, commencing on February 22, 2300 entries have been roceived from all the States, New Zealand and Fiji. So far 20 entries have been received from Now Zealand, including what 3tand for the best rinks in the Dominion. Tho time for the closing of entries has been extended until Monday next. —Press Association.
