ACCOUNTANT MISSING.
LETTER TO HIS WIFE. Pei Press Association. AUCKLAND, Jan. 19. Edgar David Hamilton McEwen, an accountant,, has been missing since January 11. Ho left a letter to his wife stating that ho was gradually going mad, and had decided to die, and wroto to his employers in the same strain, concluding: “When you got this I will bo among the dead men.” It is thought that ho is probably still alive, but has left Auckland.
Our Foxton correspondent writes that McEwen is the eldest son of Mr and Mrs D. McEwen, of liulko street, Foxton. Ho was well-known in athletic circles locally and was kconly. interested in all branches of sport. For a number of years ho was with the Foxton branch of tho Now Zealand Shipping Company, and later was transferred to the Wellington office. While in Wellington ho was married. Ho is about 28 years of ago and is very highly esteemed in Foxton. For a number of years ho was secretary and librarian of the Foxton Presbyterian Sunday school. Ho received his education at tho Foxton Stato School.
