CRICKET.
VISIT FROM AUCKLAND COLTS. On New Year’s Day and the following day a mutch will be played at Palmerston North between the Auckland colts’ touring cricket team and a local eleven. The northerners commenced a two-day’s match against Feilding today. The Auckland team is as follows: S. A. R. Badeley (Parnell), W. J. Coates (North Shore), I. W. Cooper (Eden), J. P. Gerrard (North Shore), G. L. Goodwin (Grafton), L. G. Hemus, captain, (Hamilton), N. H. E. Hockin (Eden), L. F. Johnson (North Shore), W. H. Johnston (Parnell), F. McCarthy (Eden), L. T. J. Monteith (North Shore), J. W. Palmer (Parnell) and P. E. AVhitelaw (Auckland Grammar School). The local eleven selected to oppose them comprises the following:—A. McVicar, A. Trevena, G. K. Hollier and G. Kells (Railway), Cooper and G. McSweeny (R.S.A.), JR. McDonald (High School), B. Broughton, Deiderich and S. Drake (Old Boys).
