WAR IN MANCHURIA.
CAPTURED COMMANDER SHOT
Received December 26, 11.45 a.m TOKIO, Dec. 25.
A section of the Chang-sueha-liang troops aro reported to have entered Hsinminfu. Kuo’s forces are concentrating on Tamintung. Reports from Mukden state that Kuo-sung-lin, disguised, disappeared. All his generals have surrendered to Chang-tso-lin. Kuo was later captured by Chang-tso-lin’s cavalry while fleeing in the disguise of a coolie. Kuo-sing-lin was brought to Mukden and executed at ten o’clock at night. A special message from Mukden states that his wife was also shot. Tho War Department confirms the arrest, but is unable yet to confirm the execution.—Reuter.
OFFER OF SURRENDER. SINCERITY DOUBTED. Received December 26, 11.40 a.m. TOKIO, Dec. 25. War Office despatches from Mukden state that the Japanese Consul-Gen-eral, M. Yoshida, presented to Chang-tso-lin an offer from Kuo, brigade commander at Kao, that Kuo was prepared to surrender provided his life and property were guaranteed. Chang has not yet accepted the offer, as he doubts its sincerity.—Reuter.
