CHANGE IN TURKISH CODE. MEN’S EIGHTS CURTAILED. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received December 28, 9.5 a.m. CONSTANTINOPLE, Dec. 26. A clause in the new Turkish civil code ends the right of a man to divorce his wife at will and without trial. Henceforth divorces will be granted only by the decree of the courts and only in such cases as insanity, desertion, and unfaithfulness.' This terminates one outstanding Ehase of women’s subjection in Tfirey. A Moslem under the old laws was ablo to divorce his wife merely by announcing the fact before* two witnesses or writing: “I divorce so and so.”—A. and N.Z. cable.
