SHOCK FOR THE CUSTOMS,

ADELAIDE, Dec. 15. A glaring case of what is alleged to be attempted smuggling was discovered when a passenger and his wife left the steamer Ormuz. The man was -wearing Oxford bags, and a Customs official, 'noticing 'a fringe of silk protruding above one boot, became suspicious and searched the man. He found silk Spanish shawls wound around the passenger’s legs. The man’s wife was then searched, and more shawls and a length of marocain wound round the woman’s body were found.
