BOY SCOUTS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Tho Foil ding Boy Scouts bold an important citizens’ committee meeting which was presided over by the commissioner (Air it. Hassell). An emergency reportwas forwarded by assistaiil-Seoulniaster Street, on the work of the troop for the month, and examiners were requested to bo appointed to take tiie tests for lirstclass scouts. The report was accepted and the assislanl-Scoutniaslcr and troop wero congratulated on the successful way they had carried on without a scoutmaster. Suitable examiners were selected to pass candidates as first-class scouts. A Saturday afternoon trek will he arranged by Mr Cnrthew, which will embrace a practical talk on New Zealand flora and fauna. Each committeeman agreed to attend a week night parade in rotation. A deputation was appointed, consisting of the commissioner, the Mayor and the secretary, to wait upon a gentleman whose name has been suggested as scoutmaster; and endeavour to obtain his consent to act. A letter was received from ilie Wanganui Y.M.U.A. offering to take 12 scouts to its annual hoys’ ciimp to he held at lvai Iwi beach. The offer was accepted with thanks. News received from headquarters intimated that the jamboree to he held at the Dunedin Exhibition promised to he very successful. It was reported by the commissioner that it would require about £25 per annum (o finance the local troop, and each member of file committee resolved lo canvass for financial members of the association.
