TOKOMARU

(from Our Own Correspondent.) Mrs Tuohy, who has been visiting her parents Mr and Mrs A. Judd, returned to her home at Marimn on Tuesday. On Wednesday the school throughout the day presented a very busy appearance. 235 voters recording their votes, with .the following results:—Mr Linklate 125, Mr Roberts 100,. Mr Hollings 10; continuance 126, prohibition 94, State control 13, informal 2. Fifteen absentee votes were also recorded. During the day Mrs Hickson kindly supplied tea to those acting in an official capacity.' At the meeting of the Ladies’ Guild held on Wednesday afternoon, there wore 11 ladies present, including the president, Mrs J. Farnell. Final arrangements were made for the bazaar on the 18th and 19th, and the quantity of work again handed in testified to the industry of the members. The stall-holders at the bazaar will bo as follow:—Plain sewing Mesdames Farnell and Webb; produce, Mrs A. N. Ivelly; fancy, Mesdames Ella and S. Parr; Bible class, Mrs Trelease and girls. A handsome bride doll lias been dressed for a name guessing competition, also a charming baby doll, and other competitions of interest to yoimg and old will be provided. A “cheerio” afternoon will be held oil Saturday next at 2 p.m. in aid of the stall fund. The school euchre will take place on Friday next, and holds promise of being as attractive as usual. A large number of people from this district motored to Palmerston North to attend the opening of the show on Wednesday.
